beefing up the transmission crossmember. THe stock Xmember is essentially a stamped 12 gage sheetmetal part that will surely flex under the torque of a 2.7.

Per an an old Roundel article, an owner of an E21 w/ a 2.7L used C channel to reinforce the Xmember. He claimed that as a result, wheel shimmy was eliminated during acceleration.


: : It's always easy to keep the original motor just in case you change your mind later or sell the car and the buyer wants it. I'm sure the later motor/tranny can be swapped without modifying the chassis. I'd hate to do chassis mods to a Baur.
