: Is it necessary/advisable to drain oil & refill the steering box as routine maintenance ?
: Should servicing steering box oil be performed every 25k miles or each time the timing belt's replaced?
: How difficult is this to do at home (ie, is there a drain plug & refill hole located on the box ? )
: what type of oil should be used ? I would like to use synthetic but would like to hear from others whether using
: synthetic will result in leaks with existing gasket.
: thanks
No real service required... otherwise if you want to change the oil you'll have to unplug one of the hose and drain the oil thru it... no special plug on this model.
Besides this, the oil that is used is the same as the one you require for an automatic gearbox... NO MOTOR SPECIFIED SYNTHETIC OIL AT ALL!!!!
For the refill, just put the oil to the normal level and turn the steering wheel while the engine is running several times on each direction and check level... adjust level if necessary.
