Check the rubber tube that comes off the top center of the valve cover. If not that hose, there is another that is leaking.

: : Got a 1980 320i. Lately on occasion at cold start-up, engine has backfired. Now on most recent cold start-up, engine backfired, barely got engine restarted, and won't idle unless I keep it over 1500 RPMs.
