323i cam and springs dilemma (archive)

OK, Looks like I'll be replacing the cam in my 323i that is being upgraded to a 2.7l and I'd like to upgrade to a schrick or?? I think I'll just go with the 272 duration??

The guy at BMP design says that I must replace the springs with a set of racing springs to the tune of $250, is this the truth??

What are my options? Any recommendations, like a different stock BMW cam instead. The stock cams are way less expensive and new springs only run like $3 each.
