Try the cold / warm start coolant sansor that sends information to the starter injector... Hot starts are easier with the foot as heavy as possibel on the gas pedal.
Also try to replace the starter sensor (somewhere near the thermostat --- at least on 323i) with a temporised unit ... this should solve the problem.
