: I just bought a 82 320i, it's got a fairly new stereo head unit. I'm having trouble receiving local radio stations. Would replacing the atenna help? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

If your stereo is a good quality, then replacing the antenna is a good solution... or at least checking for some wiring problem between antenna and radio unit.
Depending on what antenna you already have, i would consider a windshield antenna that is amplified and that you stick on your windshield just behind the rear view mirrow... it is dscreet and makes no hole in the car body.
