For about 6 months I didnt use a fan at all, I was using the AC electric fan alone and it did the trick. I changed the wiring of the fan so when I switch on the ign. the fan would come on and run all the time. I put a relay in line so it would switch to the battery to get max power out of it and to not put a burden on the ign sys.

I live in south FL and the temp was OK.

Getting ready to pull my 79 2.0 out of the car and put in my 82 with the 1.8 head from the 82. I will also be getting rid of the computer and the dist and coil. probably also use the 79 air flow meter since it is bigger. big project!!

: My friend was explaining to me how (according to his experience) the type of direct drive fans that are stock on my BMW ('82 320i) can be a real power sucker. Is this true? I'm looking to rebuild/replace the engine in my '82 320i. Is it possible to replace the stock fan with a clutch or electric fan? I'm looking to squeeze as much power out of this engine as I can. If I get a chance to replace it I may try to replace it with an engine from a '77-'79 320i. Any negatives as to that kind of swap?

: TIA
