This really depends. If the car is not lowered, you might get away with a bit more than if it is.
Generally speaking your choices are 16 inch borbet type t from tire rack, any number if various 13-17 from tsw, 15/7 ronal turbos 15/6 or 15/7 alpinas for a direct fit. Generally 15 inch wheels with a 12 or 13 mm et will work. Although depending on rim profile, up to 20mm has been used.
Most lowered cars need 195/50/15 on front although some/many run 205/50/15 all around.
If you run H&R spacers with the correct bolts and over 8mm they are hubcentric. This allows you to run most E-30 wheels. If you go with the really thick 25mm spacers you can get away with some VW wheels. Honda wheels have the same bolt pattern but the hub diameter is smaller, so with machine work you could run a few honda wheels with the spacers.
Once you get over 16, they clear the steering arm so it becomes somewhat less of an issue.
