I would suggest taking a good look inside your fuse box. The bullet type fuses used in the E21 tend to get fouled up, but a good wire brushing can improve things dramatically. Once the fuses are all shinny, brush the little clips that hold the end of the fuses and make sure that they are pressing against it tightly. This is the first place I would start looking for poor electrical connections. Good luck.
