78 320i - Collant Leak @ Heater Temp Lever (archive)

Anti freeze is dripping from the temp/heat lever just above driver foot. The coolant has never been hot, regardless of how long the engine has run. Heater works well and delivers as normal. It seems there must be a seal where the lever slides into the heater plenum chamber.
Anyone had experience with this type of coolant leak and what repairs might be required?
