Here's one for the collective wisdom of the group. When I bought this 320i ('83) the O2 sensor was disconnected. Reconnecting it seemed to make no difference. But since PO had the car that way, I guessed it was original -- 120K -- and decided to replace it. First time my wife started the car, she complained about the idle -- RPM hunting up and down about 200 RPM. It had always idled smoothly before. So I disconnected the O2 sensor, and idle smoothed right out. What does that mean? If it helps, the sequence valve buzzez continuously whether the O2 sensor is connected or not.
