I have a 82 - 320i. When I turn off the key the battery light stays on and the gauges drop a little. At first I thought it was an ignition switch problem and replaced the electrical portion of the switch. No good.

Someone mentioned the diodes within the alternator as having back feed. The electricity could be flowing back to the gauges.

Could this be the cause??? I'm having to disconnect the battery each time as not to drain it.

Thanks,
Martin
