Fuel line Replacement? Newbie Question (archive)

Hello,

I'm the new owner of a BMW 320i, 1981 model.
Dumb Question: The fuel lines going to the injectors seem to be a type of clear plastic. Somewhat yellowed by age. Should these lines be replaced with metal lines or other more durable material ? Isn't it a good idea to take it to a shop to have this work done ? Thans for your help !
