That sounds basically correct -- the wire between coil and distributor should be black, if everything is still original, and the other two wires (one green and one red and black) should connect to the terminal marked "15" on the coil -- otherwise you'll reverse coil polarity and that shortens plug and point life. The green wire actually goes to the starter solenoid where it picks up a full 12 volts to give the coil an extra hot spark when cranking -- the other wire brings it less voltage for normal running because of designed in resistance which helps the points last longer.
