What is cmno4? Gas?, CO (CarbonMoNOxide)? If gas is your problem, suspect the tank seals and rubber hoses that run under the back seat bottom. My 320i would smell of gas when filled up and with the sunroof open. Presumably the flow of air with the roof open pulled air thru the cabin and made the smell much more noticeable.
Not finding oil leaking on pipe or manifold, getting cmno4 possibly in from sunroof- does it scavenge up the drain lines and suck in by turbulance? I replaced the rubber hoses and the tank access panel seals all from inside the car without removing the tank. No more problems

Also looking for headlight switch and turn signal switch.
Also, car is sluggish until after 3gs. Misses and feels like it is failing to advance or retard ignition. Using external vacumn pump we noticed the lower part of the distributor moves. But the upwards facing tangs do not make contact with the downwards facing ones. Should they? replaced plugs, wires, rotor and cap. Any suggestions?
