I recently had my 82 tuned up and it wasn't running right. A different shop told me that a lot of wat to be BMW mechanics use the wrong spark plugs. Most Auto parts stores list the Bosch Platinum plug. That is the wrong heat range and according to the knowledgeable shop I finally talked to, will cause a surge when cruising as well as causing a lot of pre detonation or pinging. The correct plug is the Bosch Silber - WR9DS. I tried a set and retarded the timing just a hair. The car runs much better. Hope it helps.

I am having an anoying problem with my 320IS. I am trying to tune it up because it surges while runnig at a steady rate (not accelerating). I have the engine tuned up and timed correctly.

I also have the idle set to high just to keep it ideling somewhat steady.

I have the 3mm extended wrench to set CO also. The thing is, is that while running I stick it in the little hole to access the screw, THE CAR DIES when I push on the screw a little. Whats up with that?

Is there anyone in the group here that lives in the chicago area that knows the K-Jetronic fairly well? If you got the time, I buy the beer.

HELP!!!!
