For a 16" wheel you'll need to fit 40-45 tire, for 17" you may then need 30-35. Assuming offsetting & rubbing can be solved, I doubted if such size of tires are avaiable or not plus the chassis can handle the shock or not.
16" is more than enough from my piont of view.
