1982 323i stalls after 30 miles (archive)

I have a 82 323i that stalls after being driven about 30 miles and then will not start. It will then crank and sometimes start and run rough for a few seconds and stall agian. If i wait 10 minutes it will start and then stall a few minutes later. The longer I wait to start it the longer it will run.
The only things I could think of is cracked vacum hoses's I have replaced a few but not all, or could a old gas cap be causing this problem.
Any suggestions on what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated.
