Hmmm, not sure if the Canadian versions were different from the US versions during the the 80's. I own a US '82 320i and here in the states from '80 to '83 the 320i used an 1.8 liter M10 engine...effectivley making it a 318i. Never-the-less it was still called a 320i. The 1.8 liter M10 produced 100 bhp around 4000 rpms and pumped out 101 ft/lbs of torque around the same rpm. The pre 80' M10 was a true 2.0 liter engine with slightly higher numbers. 110 bhp, and slightly increased torque. I can't remember how much exactly. That's the skinny for the US modles, again I'm not sure about Canadian versions. Hope this helps.
