steering rack search (archive)

In the next few days I will be looking localy for a used rack.I would like to know if it is wise to get one from a salvage yard.In my area there are only three E21 to choose from.That I can pull the parts off myself anyway.The one with the rack looks like its been there at least 10-15 years.

Will it still be in good working condition after such a long time?Considering the boots are still intact that is.Also if it is advisable to go for it ,how much should I pay for the rack?
