1982 323i: speedo is waaay wrong (archive)

I have a 1982 323i with 3spd auto trans. The speedo reads errantly as such:

indicated=actual

60km/h=72km/h
80km/h=100km/h
100km/h=100~120km/h

Any simple fixes for the speedo reading too slow as such? If it makes any difference, this car is right-hand-drive (Munich made, original RHD, not converted).
