Pagid pads too thick??? ....help! (archive)

I am looking for some help (I have an e30 325.. but the archive search is down)\

I just got my pagid street pads and ATE Powerdisc rotors and I cannot get the piston far enough into the bore to get the
calipers over the pads and rotor. I only need about a 16th inch or so.

I bled the brakes, the piston went in to just outside the edge of the dust seal.I tried 3 times to get the piston just a little farther,
but even with two of us, no luck. The dust seal is in good condition and the piston appeared to go in fine to the point it is at
now.

Is it possible the pagid pads (with the rubbery backing shim) are a little too thick? This is on an 87 325.

I may take one of the pads to the dealer to compare.

Any experience would be greatly appreciated.
