I have an 82 with ac and I am in the process of modifying a 79 console to accept the 82 ac controls where the 79 had them. I am going to put the clarion pro audio head unit where the 82 ac controls are now, I have built door pods out of mdf and fiberglass to put JL audio 6.5" components in the doors and are bulding kick panels for a 4" mid and tweet component set (diamond audio hex series) out of fiberglass that will fire directly at driver and passenger. I have clarion pro audio 4x6 in the factory rear locations and a JL audio 12w3 sub in a 1.25 cube sealed box in the trunk firing at the rear of the car and cut a 10" hole in the center of the rear deck so the bass will transfer into the car. I run all of this off of a phoenix gold 4 channel amp and a pheonix gold 2 channel amp. There will be more mods in the near future like building a new sub box, this will be a bandpass for 2 8" or a single 10". Diamond hex 6.5 to replace the door speakers and extensive mods to the dash and probably a center channel.
I am hoping that some audiophile out there can help me solve my dilemma. I have a 1981 320i and I am in desperate need of a new sound system for the car. I want to replace all the factory sound equipment and replace it with a really nice system. My question is what size speakers can I put in the vehicle and what kind of CD receiver can I put at a 90 degree angle relative to the pavement and still get jog-free CD sound out of?
I appreciate the info.
