They sucked, like most (all?) Solex carbs. I would toss that sucker and replace it with a nice, new, small mechanical secondary Holley with a manual choke. Holleys are infinitely tunable, inexpensive, and once set up, will stay in adjustment forever. Pete McHenry has done this conversion and would know the specifics.
