-you manufacture custom engine mounts
-fabricate custom gearbox brackets
-have someone cut the rear section of the oil-
pan and have it rewelded so it clears the front
suspension subframe
-get a custom radiator that fits in it's original
spacing, but with greater cooling capacity to
cool the larger engine
-add an electric fan and sensors in front of the
radiator. There is no space for the mechanical
fan between the engine and radiator
-come up with a D.I.Y. exhaust system
-fix up a custom driveshaft with the correct length and larger head to fit the gearbox
-get all the electronics right
-add correct fuel pump, pressure regulator, accumulator, filter, ect.
That's it, a breeze right?
Well, actually there's a bit more. My 1978 320/6 runs a euro 635CSI engine. I'm still in the process of finishing it. Do not start the project unless you are will to invest a large amount of money and time. (I'm located in the netherlands and have no idea what the machining costs and the prices of parts are over there, so maybe you can do this cheaper then I did).
