Check ground cable from battery to chasis, ground from chasis to engine, and from alternator to engine. Ground cables have a tendancy to become corroted, and soaked with grease/grime/road crap. Lossen connections, wirebrush, clean, etc. and reconnect. That will probably solve the problem.

The charge system/battery light comes on when I turn off the engine and the key is in the lock position, then stays on. The battery is new (1 month), and alternator is charging. The light goes off once the car is started. Any idea why the light would be coming on when the car is turned off? Could it be a short in a wire? There is a wire that is connected to the side of the positve battery cable, which runs in to the fuse box. The battery had been sitting on this wire, and I removed it from under the battery. Could this have caused the problem? Any ideas? Can't seem to find a fuse that will at least keep the light from staying on until I can fine the problem, so I just have the battery dis-connected now.
