I have had a 320i for 20 years. It has always run in the third quadrant. But it is now inching into the last quadrant. Not in the red zone yet, but closer. Am I okay?

I have had a similar problem. I changed the thermostat, radiator cap & hoses. Then replaced the radiator after discovering several leaks (not cheap but did it anyway @$225.00 from the dealer). After all this the car still ran hot. Then, when in a forign car parts shop I saw a product called "Water Wetter" which was made by red-line (which I have seen touted on many bmw forums - but for transmission fluid & oil)

Anyway, to make a long story short, I bought the water wetter for about $4.00 & all my problems went away - it now runs a little higher than the 1/2 way mark.

Also, the owners manual recommends a coolant ratio of about 30% and I read that coolant does not dissapate heat as well as plain water - so, don't do 50/50 like most anti-freezes recommend, do what the BMW manufacture says & dilute it a little bit.

Vern.
