I would test the gauge, and sending unit before doing anything. To test, turn the key on, and remove the wire from the sending unit. The gauge should go all the way to the bottom. Then ground the wire, the gauge should go all the way to the top. If this proves OK, I would change the T-stat before spending money on the radiator. If you need a gauge, I have one for sale. Assuming the temp. gauge reading is correct, electric fan & engine fan work probably & there's no sign of cylinder crack & losing coolant.
My car runs to 3/4 of the temp.gauge & slowing move towards to red in slow traffic in quite short time. I can see its got no intention to cool down even the electric fan is on. It used to get down to 1/2 when my fan is on last year in same situration. Now, it will get back to 1/2 only when I drive fast on freeway.
I suspect that it's either the raidator or thermostat but recently I just flushed the raidator two times.
Do you have any idea ??
