Thanks to Garyk and MattS for the input on my engine knock in my '83 320is. I determined that the problem was in cylinder #2 by disconnecting the spark plugs and test driving. Next I removed and disassembled the engine to find that the connecting rod bearing for cylinder #2 was loose. Incidentally, the rest of the bearings in the motor seem fine upon initial inspection. Anyway, I am getting ready to purchase new connecting rod bearings for the motor. My problem is that I do not know the history of this motor and I do not know if these are the standard sized bearings. The bearing that came out of the car has a Roundel on it and the number, 1 276 715. On the opposite side it has another number SK 5309 Nb. Can anyone confirm that these are the standard size bearings based on the part numbers? The dealer parts counter was not helpful. I called around and was not able to get a definitive answer on this.

Can you help?
