A contrary opinion from the local guru (also a BMW CCA tech advisor in the Roundel) Some flexibility in the front end bushings is necessary to damp the shimmy. So he specifically recommends against urethane sway bar bushings, and those anti-shimmy kits that replace the rubber-faced washers on the control arm. Put in OEM rubber there.Tire/wheel runout is easy to check. Just jack the car and turn the wheel with it rubbing lightly against a block. It should be consistent both against the tread (radial runout) and sidewall (lateral runout). Check wheel runout by having your check block ride against the rim.
