Keith, with 190000 miles, the price should be very close to free. Have you heard it run? Got a leakdown, or compression test? Any leaks? These are all important questions to think about when buying a used motor, especially one with that kid of mileage. You are correct, there is a 2.5, and a 2.7L M20 "baby six". The 2.7 is the eta motor found in the 325e, and the 528e. Its a torquey mother, but it doesn't rev out as high as a normal BMW motor, and there is much debate if it is as durable as the 2.5L "i" motor. Go for the 2.5.
Al

The 2.7 is a stroked version of a 2.5. IMHO, the 2.5 is a better motor. Go for it. Shouldn't have any problems.
Al

what about a 2.5 liter from a 87 325, Is that the same block as the 2.7 only bored a little? would I be able to use my injection w this off of the 2.3?
Thank you

how about a 87' 2.5 w 190000 miles! The price is right. Also, I thought there is a small six 2.7 liter? thanks again
Keith
