This is only my opinion...feel free to correct me.

E30 good things:
smoother ride
more modern interior
greater rust resistance
greater availabilty for upgrade parts ("is" stuff, rear disks, bumper covers, spoilers, rims, etc.)

E21 good things:
More fun to drive
Parts are cheaper
Easier to work on
lighter
I like the styling better (except for the bumpers)

just some thoughts...
Take which ever one you decide on to a BMW mechanic for a pre-buyer inspection. Take the results to the seller and make an offer.

I just wanted to get someones attention: I hav ea question for all you BMW gurus out there. I would like your opinion on the following:

DO I buy a 83 320 that is immaculate in and out (165K miles) runs excellent for around 3G's

or am I better off buying a 85 318 for 1,500 (165K miles) that shows signs of neglect. (looks like a little to much partying went on in the early nineties)
Is it better to get the cheaper 85 and replace the interior or to spend more money on the older body style.
I am extremely grateful for any info and would give my first born to whoever helps me out ( but I don't have one)
