No rear brake lights or backup lights (archive)

Hi guys, I just noticed that I have no rear brake lights or backup lights!. The fuses are ok and so do the bulbs. Switches perhaps? I have no idea, Also, if they are, where is the location and can I do this myself? I'm not real mechanically inclined (but not a moron either). I don't know if the two problems are related.
