How the heck do I get at the bulbs behind the heater controls? I know how to get at the ones for the instrument cluster, but I am baffled by this.

I have had success going through the fake grill directly above the light. Lift it out, push the wires attached to the hazard switch to pop it out, remove the hazard switch, then clear the way to the small lamp. Use a light shone trough the windshield to help.

It is doable and much preferred to pulling the panel out with the cables attached -- old plastic is not as pliable and the cable clamp anchors on the panel may break, rendering the defrost or fresh air control useless.

Best of luck

Gabe
