hey Im new to this board and was just wondering what mods their are to boost hp out of my little 1.8l?

the car is relatively stock, with a ( dont yell at me ) glasspack, and a shot resonator. can someone explain what a resonator does?

heres what ive been thinking for mods:

header
cold air intake ( where can i get one? )
284 deg cam
ported head
and maby balance the lower end??

so lets hear it boys,( and girls? ) about what you think i should do!
