I've heard of many people ditching the fuel injection setup on earlier 320i's for dual 40mm or 45mm weber carbs, like the popular 2002 conversion. That old fuel injection system is a real bear to work on. I've heard that a dual 40 setup, w/292 cam, ported/polished head, and a supersprint header is an amazing speed increase over stock. Couple that with a balanced, forged-piston bottom end, and you're talking 150+ hp. That's BMW horsepower too, which means it will actually make your car go really fast. Be warned, we've all dreamt of doing wild things to our cars, but this stuff starts to cost MUCHO BUCKS. A stock rebuild will cost you 2500-up. You want something for some serious speed, double that. My best suggestion is to get a stock rebuild, add some exhaust, maybe a cam if you can swing it. Remember, your car is 22 years old. A well-rebuild motor will make a huge diffrence in acceleration by itself. Hope this helps!
