Just for info, I'm pretty sure that the Japanese did not invent the turbo intercooler, though I'm not sure. I own two 320i's, and neither of them have ever had any problems with overheating. both have the BEHR aluminum radiator, which I believe is the better of the two offered. (the standard steel radiator I think came in the earlier models, but both fit) So I say do it, you'll be happy.
