Sorry for the double post

I am going to put the rear trailing arms from the 323i on a US '83 320is with the 325i rear calipers. I am wondering about the box that I believe is the rear proportioning valve. It is located below the master cylinder in the engine compartment. Is this unit removed when converting to rear disks? Do the 323i's have a rear proportioning valve? Is the 323i valve different with rear disks? Can anyone help with answers?

Mike, I looked under the hood of my 323i ('81) and found that there is a little valve of some sort there. Then I fired up my Mobile Tradition CD and found the part in question. BMW calls it a pressure regulator and the drum brake cars use the same part number. I'd say you should leave it hooked up.
