Something similar happened to me. Finally I unbolted my fuse box and looked underneath. A wire was fried under the fuse box.

I have an 82 320i- the tach, clock, radio don't work after I blew a fuse (shorted out the trunk light w/ a screwdriver). Replaced the fuse- they still don't work. I fiddled with some wires yesterday- got them to work for a few hours and ....bam- out again! Anyone know what's up? I think it's a loose ground somewhere- just a matter of finding the damn thing. If it's a wire- hopefully someone with a knowledge base of the wiring for the car could tell me which one it is and where I could find it.
