THe sight glass shows alot of small bubbles when the compressor is turning. Also, there is not adequate cooling.
I don't think I have a huge leak, since the freon has kept the AC system chilled for about one year or more, but just the same, I don't want to destroy the compressor and condensor by not keeping the freon fully charged.
Should I get the freon recharged now, even tho I won't be using the AC for the next four months or wait until March ?
Also, I'm pretty sure my car is still taking the R12, but not certain. How can I tell ?
Assuming that it has a small, slow leak, I'd get the leak tested and fixed, and recharge it this fall. Some reasons - the A/C shops will not be overly busy this time of year, plus Freon is expensive now days, if you fix it now you won't have to buy as much as you might have to after it's continued leaking all winter. Your car will still use R12 unless you or a previous owner have converted it recently. Arne
