E21 front suspension is very sensitive to tires, even when all the bushings are in great shape. Momma's 320 rides on Michelin tires right now.

In the past I've had good luck with Pirelli tires, generally softer than Michelin and more forgiving at the limit, good wet traction. My 528 is wearing Yoko 509--best tires I've had on this car.

But the whole subject of tires is subjective, because of their major impact on the feel of the car, a subjective evaluation. But back to my original statement, you can't put cheap tires on these cars unless you like the shimmy.
