You're probably thinking of the setup for the later model 320i's. The injection system went through some pretty big changes in 1980. The air tube assembly goes onto the fuel distributor, which uses a "computer" instead of a metering system. For the earlier model 320i's, the airbox is attached to the fuel distributor, and you can't put a cold-air intake on it. My advice to you would be to get the K&N stock replacement intake and then drill holes in the airbox for more flow. That's the best you can do, I believe. Hope this helps. -alan 83 320i 79 320i 74 02
