Try sealing up your dipstick tube tighter. It worked for me. I duct taped the rubber grommet on the dipstick tube.

Also, consider changing the spark plugs if this has not been changed out recently. I changed mine a few weeks ago, and -OH MAN- what a difference! Car starts up quicker than before and idles far smoother too. It can lay a scratch in 4th gear now!

I have been having a starting problem lately. When i turn the key the idle of my 83 320i will go to about 1500 but it just drops unless i give it a little gas to keep it there. but after i give it that little gas it stays at 1000. i have changed the aux air valve, warm up regulator, and also all of the vacuum hoses. does anyone have any clue what it could be??
