I have seen a few sites that have some sort of a brush on color dye, and the results look good from what the small pictures portray, but I was wondering what it really looks like. can you see brush strokes?
reason Im asking is because Ive got a 320i thats got a stained headliner(smoker), its white, but its stained brown from smoke in areas, just wondering what I could do with this?

Most, if not, all automotive paint mfg,s offer a selection of interior "Vynal Dyes" to match most interior color offerings. These are not true "dyes" but rather a solvent base paint with vynal type resigns added for flexability. Brushing these finishes will not produce the results you will be looking for as they are typically very thin in consistency and will require two or more coats for coverage. I have sprayed(dyed) many BMW headliners and interior trim panels with excellent results, making yellow-smoked headliners look like new.First be sure to clean the headliner with a strong household watersoluable cleaner such as "409",Fantastic", etc. Be aware, the solvents in these "dyes" will soften and streath the headliner to look "loose", but when the solvents evaporate and the "dye" dries, the headliner will steath out tight again. Also these finishes are not recomended for seats. If you have true leather rather than vynal, look for a product specific for leather "dying". necessary.....Questions to krumreyk@aol.com
