The guy selling the 320iS with the Hardy & Beck turbo that I was planning to buy sold the car the day after I took a look at it. We agreed on a price for it, I put some money down, and told him I would call him early in the week to pay the rest of the money and drive it home. He calls me back a few days later to break me the news and say that he had to return my deposit. I know how you feel, and it sucks big time. So now, I'm back on the hunt for an '82 320i or 323i. If anyone out there knows of such a beast in close to stock and rust free condition, please email me.
