I have just started looking for an older BMW for getting
back and forth to work...can anyone enlighten on the difference between the 318i and 320i, 1981 models...both
2 door,5 spds...thanks for any help.

The '81 318i would be a European specification model and the 320i would be a US spec. car, the main differences the 318i most likely will not have a catalytic converter or the US mandated 5 mph bumpers. Be careful with any European model car to get the EPA/DOT paperwork that was done when the car was imported, otherwise you may encounter nightmarish problems getting the car to pass insection and emmisions.
