The lamp Jimmy reps is a normal incandescent type halogen lamp. As such, a halogen lamp operating at 55watts will output no more than 1200 lumens. What is different is that the lamp uses xenon gas to effect a whitish color versus normal warm yellow typical of halogen.
Very misleading, however, is the term XENON that is used to exploit what has been adopted by BMW's marketing to denote the high energy discharge type lighting system that is now on the newer cars. HID operates at much higher voltages (20 kvolts) than normal 13.5v for halogen and the HID lamp outputs 3200 lumens, and is far more efficient than halogen. THe beam distribution is therefore more penetrating and brighter and has a tighter point lamp source. YOu cannot achieve these qualities with halogen because there is insufficient candlepower produced through the 13.5volt system, insufficient beam distribution because the tungsten filament is much larger in size than the electrode gap on the HID system, and just won't give you the performance of the HID system.
If you must have the performance of the HID lamp, getting these halogen replacements will not get you the light output you seek. If you want to replace existing halogen w/ a halogen that is possibly more efficient than the OEM lights, these lamps could work.
