I'm definately no expert but I am certain that when my mechanics had to remove the cam on my 323i he pulled the radiator and grill and slid it out through the front....FWIW.

Yeah. It would be best to remove the head.

I have heard of BMW mechanics doing this
without removing the head, but they actually
unbolt the engine at the mounts and raised the
engine slightly so they can get the Cam and
rocker rods out!


would like to know the easy way to replaced a broken rocker arm. do you have to removed the head to do this job. my car is a 1978,320i
