The procedure described above looks pretty good. This is a pretty easy job if you've done brake work before. I ordered my cables for ~$25 each with BMW CCA discount at my local dealer. They had to be special ordered from Mobile Tradition and it took a week for them to arrive.

'83 320is now with rear disk brake conversion

Has anyone changed the hand brake cables in a '81 323i ?

It has the rear disc brakes with the inner drum hand brake.
One of my cables has snapped at the lever end.

I'm not sure if I should get a whole new cable or if I can
replace just the inner part ?
