Volkswagen turbo (archive)

A friend told me that I culd put a Volkswagen golf's diesel turbo system into my 79 320i. He said that then i could get another intercooler from another volkswagen and also put it in my car. I am really interested in doing this so i want to know if anybody else has done this to their bimmer and how it worked out.
